Superbowl ads suck

Except for the one with Betty White (hilarious) and the Doritos nacho man made me laugh outloud. It was so unexpected! The worst of the worst? It's a tossup between Tim Tebow with Focus on the the Family (yuck) and Dodge Charger. Luckily for us, there's a spoof of the Charger ad where women get their say. Funny. And educational.

Go Betts!

Besides Bea Arthur, I can think of no one else as deserving as Betty White for a Lifetime Achievement Award. I would've posted video of her hilarious acceptance speech, but it looks like it's all been removed from the internets. Click on the pic for some great speech nuggets. And make sure you google image for her evening dress. Way to work a slit at 88!

If you do find video, I recommend fast-forwarding through the Sandra Bullock parts. Sheesh, she's annoying.

So this has me a little nervous:

Betty White, Frasier’s Jane Leeves, Just Shoot Me’s Wendie Malick, and One Day at Time’s Valerie Bertinelli have been cast in the TV Land comedy pilot Hot in Cleveland. The show, the network confirms to EW, follows three fortysomething best friends from L.A. who, after getting stuck in Ohio, decide to stick around because the locals find them glamorous. White, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will play “a grumpy and opinionated lady who has lived in the cottage of the trio’s Cleveland house for 50 years.”

I'm thinking of retiring to a cabin with only my Golden Girls DVDs to keep me company. Especially now that I'm an "old fogey" and that children think Kindles are books.

YouTube. Facebook. The Kindle. Now a tablet. New technology is creating new generation gaps.

If you need me I'll be drowning my sorrows in a pinot noir.

Happy Belated, Nic.

I've seen every National Treasure. Multiple times. The closer you sit to the screen, the better to see the hair plugs. Here's to you, Nic.

Clickety-click.

Oh yeah, and I've seen the original Wicker Man. It was weird.

Not the BEES!!!!!!!!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack.

Whew. It's been awhile since I've a-posted on this eh, blog. And this is why I'm back. The masses must know what to buy for me next Christmas:

Suit up!

Best speech yet?

Wow. The President begins around 15:00 but the whole service is worth watching. Do they have Aaron Sorkin from 10 years ago locked in the basement of the White House? Or is Jon Favreau as obsessed with President Bartlett as everyone else from my generation? I'm actually guessing that, just like the breath-catching speech on race delivered during the campaign, this one is a solo writing credit for Obama. Either way, it'll be worth revisiting when health care politics are driving you crazy.

Fall TV Review: "That's how I make my horsey go"

Okay, this show is hilarious. Since my TV world is usually full of procedural dramas, cooking competitions, and depression addled 1960s housewives, Wednesday has become a light-hearted night full of pop culture references and witty banter thanks to Glee and ABC's Modern Family. I was hooked after the first show and then I realized why. The show's co-creator, Christopher Lloyd, has a great track record.

In this clip from last night's episode Cameron (one half of the gay couple who adopted a little girl from Vietnam) is trying to tone down his gayness per Mitchell's desire to blend into the toddler play group. Making fun of straight men dancing is always funny.
